Problem
Our customer had an in-house developed test system that required a precisely aimed laser beam for optimum function. Their existing manual alignment procedure required a technician to observe beam position on a ground glass optical target while adjusting several alignment controls. The alignment procedure was tedious and required constant attention. The customer asked if Alpha Omega could design a more precise alignment tool with an audible output.
Solution
We delivered a prototype tool less than 24 hours after the initial call. It worked very nicely so we reworked the design to incorporate it into a rugged machined case. The device had an audible speaker and an earphone jack. We made it battery powered with adjustable signal volume and an electrical output to allow it to be incorporated into an automated alignment system.
Results
The customer was very happy with the tool and hired us to rework the entire system to improve accuracy and efficiency.
